Welcome

Dear friends from USA,

I wish to take this opportunity to welcome you to Botswana for this year's malaria campaign. This campaign would not have been possible without your kind and generous hearts! We extend our thanks to the families that have allowed their children to travel and for financial support also from the families and Alexandar Dawson School. I believe that partnerships like these are a great asset to invested into the future leaders -the children.

This partnership is growing from strength to strength and thanks also to Mr Bill Meyers for the leadership and focus into this Gaborone-Colorado partnership. I will not be fair if I leave out Mr Johnson Brian the headmaster of Alexandar Dawson school for all the support from 2006 when he made possible a Botswana team visit his school for join presentations at NAIS conference. That was historical in the lives of us here.

We shall do our campaign into Botswana north in District called CHOBE and village called Lesoma. I invite Dawson Community to follow us to this campaign from August 5th to 14th August, 2008.

I am so proud of the Dawson students visiting Botswana, and just a little bit envious, too. What a fantastic adventure. I hope you'll bring back stories of good work and friendship, and leave some of your heart and spirit with the good people of Botswana.
Say a warm "Hello" to Mr. Hammaluba and Mr. Mophuting for me.

Best,
Mr. Mitchell, Alexander Dawson School

Fellow African travellers... my hats off to you on your life changing adventure. Long after you've forgotten the quadratic equation or dangling participles, you will have the memories of the enchanting continent of Africa; its endless savannah, its smiling faces and its extraordinary sky.
Bill Meyers, you are an inspiration and I truly miss working with you.
To my ex-middle school students- have a wonderful experience and please be assured that I miss working with you at Dawson.
Tommy and Mr Mophuting, greetings to you, your students and your families.
My only regret is that I am not with you all in lovely Botswana.
Travel safely and Godspeed,
Mike Imperi

Students Collaborate to Fight Malaria in Botswana

The Tsao Village will be the site for the 3rd annual Malaria Eradication Campaign conducted by the Gaborone Secondary School (GSS) and the Alexander Dawson School (ADS). The first campaign was in the village of Gumare in the Okavango Delta region and last year was Lesoma village in the Chobe region of Botswana. Tsao is also in the Okavango region where the incidence of malaria is very high and most people cannot afford the cost of a mosquito net for their beds.

Malaria is a disease that can be prevented with education, nets and medicine. The students from GSS and ADS, along with their teachers Tommie Hamaluba and Bill Meyers, will distribute nets and discuss methods to prevent this terrible disease as they go house to house through the village.

We hope that you will follow the campaign postings on this blog and participate with us by adding your comments.
